Jenzabar Foundation- University Student Leadership Awards in Community Service The Jenzabar Foundation<http://www.thejenzabarfoundation.org/> has opened the nomination process for its fifth annual Student Leadership Awards, which recognize student groups that have made a difference in the world through service and philanthropic activities at the local, national, and international levels. 2. Graduate Student Travel Awards The semiannual Graduate Student Travel Awards program provides funding for graduate students to travel to meetings, workshops, conferences, or symposia to present their research, or to do fieldwork. 3. Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA)/Caribbean Region Climate Adaptation (CRCA) Partnership Initiative Higher Education for Development (HED), in cooperation with USAID and the Office of Economic Policy and Summit Coordination at the U.S. Department of State, is issuing a request for applications for the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA)/Caribbean Region Climate Adaptation (CRCA) Partnership Initiative. Higher Education for Development (HED) expects to make one (1) award of up to $770,500 for three (3) years for a higher education partnership between one U.S. institution and the University of the West Indies/Centre for Resource Management and Environmental Studies (UWI/CERMES). This partnership will build additional permanent, local capacity in the area of climate adaptation at UWI/CERMES. The partnership will focus on research and policy and will result in tangible products such as expanded research, outreach to policy makers, short-course development for academic, public and private sector audiences and strategic planning to secure long-term funding. It is expected that during the next three years UWI/CERMES will be internationally recognized as a Caribbean center of excellence in climate adaptation research and data collection and that this partnership initiative will help UWI/CERMES down that path. Through its academic offerings, expanded research, and graduate level degree programs and continuing education offerings for professionals, UWI/CERMES will lead the way for the region in utilizing the latest data collection and analysis techniques to inform policy and address the many climate adaptation challenges facing the Caribbean region. 5. USINDO Travel Grants – Call for Applications
USINDO awards grants of up to $2000 to fund travel to Indonesia or to the United States. These grants are awarded to promote academic and other exchanges between the two countries. 6. Terra Foundation for American Art- Funding for Exhibitions In recognition of the importance of experiencing original works of art, the Terra Foundation for American Art supports exhibitions that enlarge the understanding and appreciation of historical American art made between 1500 and 1980. Exhibitions that take place only in the United States but outside of Chicago must present historical American art in an international context and reach a scholarly audience. American Serbia and Montenegro Youth Leadership Exchange (A-SMYLE) Program The Office of Citizen Exchanges’ Youth Programs Division announces an open competition for the American Serbia and Montenegro Youth Leadership Exchange (A-SMYLE) Program. The A-SMYLE program enables high school students from Serbia and Montenegro to spend one academic year in the United States, living with American host families and attending high school. Public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3) may submit proposals to recruit and select high school students aged 15-17 from Serbia and Montenegro, place them with host families and schools for the 2013-14 academic year of study in the United States, provide activities that will enable the students to learn about leadership, civic responsibility, community activism, democracy, and American society, educate Americans about their countries and cultures, and support alumni in projects in the students’ home countries. 9. Migration Policy Institute- Successful Immigrant Integration Initiatives Prizes of $50,000 each are available to individuals, nonprofit and community-based organizations, businesses, religious groups, and government entities operating exceptionally successful immigrant integration programs. The program is designed to highlight and reward outstanding efforts that help immigrants and their children join the mainstream of U.S. society or that bring immigrants and native-born Americans together to build stronger, more cohesive communities. Awards are given for existing initiatives that can be evaluated according to the award selection criteria (significance, impact, and influence) based on their operations to date. The awards are not intended to support the launch of new initiatives. Grant money must be used by each awardee to advance their integration initiative. 10. Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation-Pediatric Cancer Research Fellowship The program will provide funding to basic scientists and clinicians for research with the potential to significantly impact the prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of one or more pediatric cancers. The fellowship program seeks to recruit the top young minds to research childhood cancers. Applicants must have completed one or more of the following degrees or its equivalent: M.D., Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., D.D.S., or D.V.M. Candidates who have already accepted a postdoctoral research fellowship award are not eligible. Candidates must apply for the fellowship under the guidance of a sponsor - a scientist (tenured, tenure-track, or equivalent position) capable of providing mentorship to the fellow. Awards are made to institutions for the support of the fellow under direct supervision of the sponsor. Fellowships are granted for a three-year term with second- and third-year funding contingent upon satisfactory progress reports. Trilateral Research in Partnership (TRIP) Awards The British Council is excited to announce the first trilateral strand of the successful UK-India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) with the launch of the new Trilateral Research in Partnership (TRIP) Awards with the United States. Ten awards of up to £50,000 (USD $75,000) in funds will be available to support multidisciplinary research projects between UK, US and Indian higher education institutions. International Research Fellowship Program (IRFP) The objective of the International Research Fellowship Program (IRFP) is to introduce scientists and engineers in the early stages of their careers to international collaborative research opportunities, thereby furthering their research capacity and global perspective and forging long-term relationships with scientists, technologists and engineers abroad. 16. National Geographic Conservation Trust The National Geographic Conservation Trust will fund projects world-wide that contribute to the preservation and sustainable use of the Earth's biological, cultural, and historical resources. The Conservation Trust seeks to support cutting edge programs that might be overlooked by other organizations, due to the risk involved in working with new investigators and in new fields. Applicants are not expected to have Ph.D.'s or other advanced degrees; however, they must provide a record of prior research or conservation action as it pertains to the proposed project. Funding is not restricted to U.S. citizens. Researchers planning work in foreign countries should include at least one local collaborator as part of their research teams. While grant amounts vary, most range from $15,000 to $20,000 each. 17. Short-term Senior Fellowships in Iranian Studies The American Institute of Iranian Studies (AIIrS) offers short-term senior fellowships for research travel to Iran of up to 4 weeks but will also consider short-term visits to other countries with resources essential to the research. These fellowships enable established scholars with research interests in the field of Iranian Studies to acquaint themselves with the range of academic activities and resources in Iran or relevant other countries. It is the responsibility of the applicant to receive permission to conduct the intended research from the pertinent Iranian or other-country authorities prior to making the application. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and preference will be given to tenured faculty members and museum staff with some knowledge of Persian and a record of research in the humanities or the social sciences relating to Iran. 19. Migration Processes from the Perspective of Transit Countries The Foundation for Population, Migration and Environment promotes an understanding of the phenomena relating to human migration. The Foundation seeks to contribute to finding solutions to the associated problems by supporting research into the causes, effects and meaning of such migration as well as by endeavoring to place the debate on migration taking place outside a scientific framework on a differentiated and objective basis. 20. Interlingualism and Linguistic Ecology The Esperantic Studies Foundation offers $10,000 Interlingual Research Grants for research on international and intercultural language problems and their solutions. Examples include language barriers and language use in international communication (governmental, commercial, scientific, individual, and others); linguistic human rights in theory and practice; the evolution, use and implications of multilingual information technology (internationalization/localization, machine translation, multilingual databases, etc.); and interlingual policy and planning in multinational settings; the learning and use of planned international languages (including attitudinal, political, economic, social, and pedagogical issues). Earthwatch funds scientific field research and education to promote the understanding and action necessary for a sustainable environment. Their four Research Areas are 1) Ecosystem Services, 2) Climate Change, 3) Oceans, and 4) Cultural Heritage. Advancing Just and Durable Peace The Rockefeller Brothers Fund’s Peace-building program aspires to strengthen grassroots constituencies for peace and to connect them with policymaking on the regional and international levels. It aims to understand the conditions that lead to violence and the processes that support durable peace in order to identify innovative solutions to the most pressing drivers of insecurity. The Carthage Foundation- General Request for Proposal The Carthage Foundation's grant program is primarily directed toward public policy programs that address major domestic and international issues. There are no geographical restrictions. The Foundation does not make grants to individuals for any purpose or to nationally-organized fundraising groups. GDA APS Addendum for BFS - CLIMATE RESILIENT CEREALS Addendum to the FY 2011 Global Development Alliance (GDA) Annual Program Statement (APS) No. M/OAA/GRO/EGAS-11-002011 (the GDA APS), USAID/Bureau for Food Security (BFS), Research Division USAID/Bureau for Food Security (BFS), Research Division is making a special call for the submission of concept papers related to the Feed the Future (FTF) Initiative’s Global Hunger and Food Security Research Strategy. 2. 3. THIRD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE IMAGE We are pleased to hold the 2012 conference in partnership with the Polish Mediations Biennale 3: The Unknown - Nieznane. The location of the city of Poznan in Poland and Europe creates a wonderful opportunity for it to become a mediator between Eastern and Western Europe, between Asia and Europe, and between the civilizations of the west and the east. The Unknown - Nieznane: Works of art disclose areas which are incomprehensible and which cannot be expressed with the use of the words. We create knowledge of what is familiar to us and about the secret of our existence. Art awakens in us the sensibility and awareness of the presence of things that are unknown in our lives. The RBUCE-UP project is looking, through the second call for applications, for 12 junior and 2 senior experienced talents to strengthen international relations of UniverSud Paris members, providing fellows opportunities for their careers, attractive compensation and research resources.
